PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Joe Smith has over 25 years of experience in the health and fitness industry across the UK and Australia. He qualified as a Personal Trainer in 1997 while completing a Health and Sports Science degree and worked as a professional sports coach with clubs and universities.

In 2007, Joe moved to Australia, completing his Certificate III & IV in Fitness and stepping into management roles with Fitness First and Anytime Fitness. By 2015, he became a Practice Manager at the Optus Campus, training Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists while managing the Corporate Wellness Hub.

In 2019, he was appointed Exercise Director at Wellness In Motion, specialising in adaptive programming and mental health strategies. Today, Joe owns Adelaide Personal Trainers, leading 30+ trainers and hundreds of clients, and also serves as Personal Training Manager at Goodlife Adelaide, mentoring trainers and students completing their Certificate III & IV.

Current Role at NHFA

Joe has joined NHFA with a strong focus on education and mentorship, bringing his extensive industry knowledge to support and guide the next generation of Personal Trainers. His role centres on fostering confidence, developing skills, and helping students create long-term success in the fitness industry.

Based in Adelaide, Joe balances his professional commitments with his passion for sport and family. Whether mentoring students, coaching trainers, or spending time with his community, he is dedicated to creating positive impact both inside and outside the gym.
