Certificate III & IV in Fitness Qualifications
Being a fitness instructor is such a rewarding career.
Here in Australia, there are so many options for fitness instructors and personal trainers including working in gyms, health clubs and spas, functional and group exercise studios like F45 or Bodyfit and even working on cruise ships.
There are two main qualifications required to work in the fitness industry. A Certificate 3 in Fitness is the minimum qualification required to work in the fitness industry and allows you the option to take some group exercise classes as a fitness instructor. These include non-choregraphed type classes such as indoor circuit classes and indoor or outdoor bootcamps.
This is also the minimum qualification required to become a Les Mills instructor and gain the necessary certifications through them to teach their classes in various gyms such as Bodypump, Bodyattack and RPM just to name a few. If you’ve been in and around gyms, I’m sure these will sound familiar.
In short, if you are only wanting to gain group exercise certifications, then a Cert 3 in Fitness may be all that is required.
NHFA Founder & Director, Dave Burgis, goes through Cert. 3 & 4 in Fitness qualifications and what job opportunities are available.
If like most people, you’d like the options of training clients in a one on capacity or becoming an online fitness coach you’ll need to gain your Certificate IV in Fitness qualification. The Cert 4 in Fitness allows you to then have the necessary knowledge skills, qualifications and importantly allows you the ability to be fully insured to offer these services. The Certificate IV in Fitness Qualification is the most popular option giving you endless options and allowing you to the specialise in certain niches not to mention it’s the minimum qualification to operate out of most health clubs and gyms.
Here at NHFA we offer the Cert III & IV fitness qualifications as a combined option with our specialised Personal Training program. If you’re looking for the most time and cost-effective way to gain your PT qualifications, and get started in the industry fast, this without a doubt is the best option!
